KANSAS CITY, Mo. --- The Wayland Baptist Pioneer Baseball team is set to begin the 2026 season as the #17 ranked team in the NAIA, per the NAIA Baseball Preseason Coaches' Poll.
2025 was a historic season for the Pioneer Baseball program, winning their first Sooner Athletic Conference Championship in program history and earning a 2-seed in the Lewiston Region where they advanced to the Regional Championship before falling to 1-seed host Lewis-Clark State College.

Todd Weldon and the Pioneers finished the 2025 season with a 42-19 overall record and 22-5 in Sooner Athletic Conference play.

nd Team All-American honor, while now WBU Assistant Coach, took home NAIA Third Team All-American honors.
The Pioneers are the highest ranked Sooner Athletic Conference member that was ranked in the 2026 NAIA Baseball Preseason Coaches' Poll followed by Mid-America Christian (#19) and Science & Arts (RV).
The Pioneers will open the 2026 season with a four-game series against Ave Maria (Fla.) in Ave Maria, Florida on January 23-24, 2026. Their first Sooner Athletic Conference series will take place on February 20-21 against the Lions of Nelson University at David and Myrt Wilder Field in Plainview.
