PITTSBURG, Kan. --- The Wayland Baptist Men's and Women's Track and Field teams opened their 2026 season at the Pittsburg State Crimson and Gold Invitational, showcasing emerging talent across sprints, mid-distance, and relays.
While the meet featured deep NCAA Division I and II fields, the Pioneers held their own and walked away with several encouraging performances that point toward strong potential this indoor season.

WOMEN'S MEET HIGHLIGHTS
Letticia Campbell delivered one of the team's strongest showings of the day, clocking 1:35.43 in the women's 600 meters, placing her mid-pack in a highly competitive field. Her race strategy, patience, and closing effort mark an early step forward as the indoor season begins.
In the women's 60 meters, Nathaniela King continued to gain momentum as she posted an 8.15, demonstrating improved drive-phase mechanics and competitive fire against a large, talented field.
The Pioneers also gained valuable experience in the 300 meters, where
Jazmine Jackson finished with a solid 49.14, putting her on track for improvement as race rhythm sharpens deeper into the season.

MEN'S MEET HIGHLIGHTS
Wayland's strongest male performance came in the 4x400 relay, where the quartet of Branden Brown, Jesus Zubia,
Evans Pololet, and
Case Drum clocked 3:26.01. The relay showed grit and competitive cohesion, especially with Brown's aggressive opening leg and Drum's composed anchor finish. The time placed the Pioneers in the mix with several Division II power programs.
Sophomore
Marsaul Adley contributed two solid sprint efforts on the day.
- 53.56 in the men's 400 meters, where he maintained composure and speed through the final straight.
- 23.37 in the 200 meters, placing him competitively among a deep field of sprinters.
Teammate Branden Brown—not only a key figure in the 4x400—also turned in a 23.88 in the 200 meters, strengthening Wayland's sprint presence and showing depth at the shorter distance.

The Pioneers will return to the track on Saturday, January 10
th, when they travel to Wichita, Kansas to compete in the Friends University First Chance Qualifier.
