LUBBOCK --- The Wayland Baptist men's and women's track and field squad competed in the Corky Classic hosted by Texas Tech University against a loaded field mixed with NCAA Division 1, NCAA Division 2, and NAIA opponents.
The headline finisher at the Corky Classic for the Pioneers was sophomore
Ryder Robison in the men's 3000m run. He finished the event with a time of 9:09:28 – a new personal record for him - and took 10
th place against opponents from UTEP, Abilene Christian, Lubbock Christian, etc.,.
Robison was recognized last week as the Sooner Athletic Conference Digital Scoreboards Men's Track Athlete of the Week.
Anthony Willis competed in the men's triple jump where he claimed 14
th place against opponents from some of the top division track and field programs such as Texas Tech, Texas A&M, TCU, and Arizona State. He had a furthers jump of 13.94m.
Evans Pololet earned 33
rd in the men's 1000m run with a final time of 2:42.89.
Case Drum brought home 22
nd place in the men's 600y run with a final time of 1:13.04.
Drum, Pololet,
Marsaul Adley, and
Jesus Zubia made up the Pioneer 4x400m relay team, and they finished with a time of 3:24.07.
Elizabeth Egwunwoke and
Letticia Campbell each competed in the women's 200m run, one of the most competitive races in the meet. Egwunwoke finished with a time of 26.87, while Campbell finished right behind her with a time of 26.99.
