OKLAHOMA CITY --- Flying Queens freshman guard
Cania Mitchell has earned this week's SAC Digital Scoreboards Women's Basketball Offensive Player of the Week, per the Sooner Athletic Conference offices.
The Amarillo, Texas native now makes it two straight weeks where she has been recognized by the SAC for her outstanding efforts on the floor. Mitchell has been a key catalyst in the Flying Queens' current four-game winning streak.
In their two wins this week over OPSU and Central Christian, Mitchell averaged 28 ppg, 7.5 ast/g, 6.5 reb/g, and 3.0 stl/g.
In the Queens' win over OPSU, Mitchell scored a game-high 32 points on 64.7% shooting from the floor, 7 assists, 6 rebounds, and 3 steals. Mitchell followed that up with 24 points on 69.2% shooting from the floor, 8 assists, 7 rebounds, and 3 steals in the win over Central Christian.
Mitchell and the Flying Queens will hit the road this week as they take on the Texas Wesleyan in Fort Worth on Thursday, January 29
th. The game is scheduled to begin at 6:00 PM.
