OKLAHOMA CITY --- Wayland Baptist senior men's wrestler
Emmett Bivens has been recognized as this week's SAC Digital Scoreboards Men's Wrestler of the Week after his stellar performance at the Cumberland Open, per the Sooner Athletic Conference offices.
A native of Allen, Texas, Bivens was dominant in the 285 pound division at the 2026 Cumberland Open and brought home 3
rd place in the bracket. Bivens ended the meet with a 5-1 record. He picked up three wins by way of decision, one by major decision, and one by forfeit.
Bivens opened the tournament with a wins over Jovon Howe from Cumberlands (KY) (D, 7-1), Evan Dixon from Cumberlands (TN) (MD, 10-0), Steven Flagg from Huntington (D, 2-0), but ultimately fell short in the semi-final match against Bruce Wagers from the University of Rio Grande Valley (F, 3-0). Bivens won his final two matches by forfeit and D, 5-4 over Trey White from Cumberlands (KY) to take 3
rd place.
Bivens and the Pioneers will host their Senior Night on Wednesday, February 4
th against McMurry at 6:00 PM in the Hutcherson Center.
