Adonis Bernal has been named this week's SAC Netting Pros/STADIONIC Baseball Player of the Week, per the Sooner Athletic Conference office.
A junior from Chitre, Panama, Bernal had a monstrous week for the Pioneers and led them to a 5-0 week with sweeps over the University of the Southwest (N.M.) and Oklahoma Panhandle State.
For the week, Bernal hit .529 with 5 home runs, 11 RBIs, 7 runs scored, and a --- slugging percentage. After slugging five home runs this week, Bernal now leads the Pioneers with 7 home runs on the season.
In two wins over the University of the Southwest, Bernal went 5 for 6 with three home runs, eight RBIs, and five runs scored. Bernal then led the Pioneers to a three-game sweep of OPSU after hitting 4 for 11 with two home runs, three RBIs, and two runs scored.
For the season, Bernal is batting .394 with 7 home runs, 42 RBIs, 21 runs scored, 10 stolen bases, and a 1.078 OPS.
Bernal and the Pioneers will hit the road this weekend for a massive three-game road series against #14 Mid-America Christian in Oklahoma City. They will play a doubleheader on Friday followed by a nine-inning game on Saturday. Game One of Friday's doubleheader will begin at 4:00 PM.
