PLAINVIEW, Texas – Wayland Baptist University's commitment to excellence extends far beyond the field of play, as 15 Pioneer athletic programs concluded the 2025-26 academic year with cumulative team grade point averages of 3.0 or higher, earning recognition as SAC All-Academic Teams.
The achievement highlights a department-wide culture that emphasizes success in the classroom alongside athletic competition. Throughout the year, Wayland student-athletes continued to set a high standard academically, earning numerous individual and team honors.
"The 25-26 Academic year has been a strong one," said Associate Athletic Director Paula Lusk. "With the opportunity to join Chi Alpha Sigma Honor Society, 249 student athletes named to the SAC Honor Roll, 186 student athletes garnering All-SAC Honors and completing the year by coming together as 15 teams being named SAC All-Academic! It has been a wonderful year!! Congratulations to the student athletes, the coaches, the faculty and all support staff who pulled together to help make this happen."
