Guillermo recorded a hat trick in the men’s soccer team’s 5-1 win over Mid-America Christian in the first round of the Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament, scoring all three of his goals in the first 27½ minutes of the match. He notched three of the team’s first four goals and assisted on the last as he became only the fourth Pioneer in program history to score three goals in a match and also broke the program record for most goals in a season (12; the previous record was nine). The freshman from Uruguay was named SAC Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week as well as SAC Freshman of the Year and All-SAC Second Team. Deal also scored a goal in the Pioneers’ semifinal win over Southwestern Christian on Tuesday. The Pioneers, ranked the equivalent of 28th, advanced to the SAC Tournament championship for the first time. They will host USAO at 6 p.m. Saturday for the right to advance to the NAIA National Championships.
