Silvia, a senior from El Paso, set a school record in the 1,000 meters with a time of 2 minutes, 51.85 seconds (converted to 2:53.22 for track size and altitude). The time, which is second in the NAIA this season, shattered the old school record of 2:55.05 set by Purity Biwott in 2009. Said Coach Brian Whitlock, "Silvia broke the (school) record of the best middle-distance girl I ever coached, and she broke it by over three seconds." Sosa also ranks seventh in the mile and 800 and sixth in the 3,000 and in the DMR.
