Johannes, a freshman from Chieming, Germany, won the Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament, which Wayland hosted at Tascosa Golf Club’s La Paloma Course in Amarillo.

Jo shot rounds of 73-69-68 for a 3-under 213, coming from three shots behind after the first two rounds to win by four strokes.

"Jo just played spectacular," coach Tom Harp said. "That he did it on a stage with the caliber of players he was with, in his first semester in college, was awesome to see."

Jo, who made the all-tournament team and was named all-conference, is the second WBU golfer to win the SAC title in the nearly 30-year history of the program and now is qualified to compete in the NAIA National Championships May 21-24 at Las Sendas Golf Club in Mesa, Ariz.
