Bass earns SAC Baseball Player of Week award (PHOTO GALLERY)

Wayland Baptist sophomore second baseman Will Bass has been named Sooner Athletic Conference Baseball Player of the Week.
 
Bass helped the Pioneers to three wins in four home games last weekend against McMurry, a team that entered the series sporting a 26-5 record, the best in school history.
 
Bass went 9-for-17 for a .529 average and an .882 slugging percentage. He scored six runs and knocked in six more, including four on a second-inning grand slam that helped his team to a dramatic come-from-behind 10-9 win in the final game of the series. The Plainview native who transferred prior to his sophomore season from New Mexico Junior College, also had a triple, double and two stolen bases during the series.
 
The wins improved WBU to 30-19 on the season.
 
This marks the third time a WBU player has been recognized as SAC Baseball Player of the Week. Josh Alexander and Gaby De La Cruz were previous honorees. Tyler Adams was previously named conference Pitcher of the Week.
 
The Pioneers host West Texas A&M in a single game starting at noon Tuesday.
