Adelfo Valdez and
William Pollock were honored prior to helping the Pioneers to a 43-0 shutout of Oklahoma Wesleyan in men's wrestling on Saturday morning in the Laney Center.
"It seemed like everything went our way today," WBU coach
Aaron Meister said. "Of the seven contested matches, we won by bonus in four of them. To my knowledge, it is the first time that we shut out an opponent in a dual."
After a forfeit at 125 pounds to start the day, Valdez got things going for the Pioneers with a 4-0 decision in the 133-pound match. After another forfeit at 141, Pollock secured a fall at 1:43.

Brandon Chapin secured another fall for Wayland, then at 174
Matt Alejandro earned a win by way of major decision (17-9), avenging an early-season loss to the same wrestler.
Hunter McCarty earned a 5-3 decision at 184, then at 197
Justin Vargas earned his first tech-fall by a score of 20-4. Finally, at 285
Brandon Bennett won by forfeit.Â
"To have everybody win, and win this way as team on Senior Day, is pretty special. It's a great way to close our dual season," Meister said.
The win snapped a four-game skid for the Pioneers and improved the team to 4-9 on the season.
Next for the team is the Sooner Athletic Conference Championships on Feb. 22 in Bartlesville, Okla.
