HOBBS, N.M. –
Daeandre Harris qualified for NAIA Nationals in the 400 hurdles to highlight Wayland Baptist's efforts at the Ross Black Open hosted Friday and Saturday by New Mexico Junior College.
On Friday, Harris, a freshman from Barbados, turned in a personal-best time of 54.03 seconds, bettering his PR by more than a second and meeting the "B" national standard. Also in the 400 hurdles,
Mark Phillips (59.51) and Aidan Heredia (1:04.35) made their outdoor season debuts. "All three guys had more in the tank so I am excited to see where they land in the conference and nationals," WBU interim coach Tre Hinds said.
In the 400,
Case Drum logged a PR 49.42. "I believe he is way better than that because we were pushed back because of technical difficulties, which had Case warming up for almost two hours," Hinds said.
The next competition for the Pioneers is The Open hosted by Lubbock Christian University on Friday.
