The Wayland Baptist football team will play two first-time opponents – prospective future Sooner Athletic Conference members North American University and Arkansas Baptist College – as part of the Pioneers' 10-team schedule in 2023.
WBU will take the field for the first time with Marcos Hinojos as head coach Sept. 2 at home against North American University, an NAIA school in Houston. The Pioneers get another home game a week later as they open SAC play against Oklahoma-Panhandle State.
WBU is on the road for its next three contests against Sul Ross State, Louisiana Christian and Ottawa-Arizona. The Pioneers return home Oct. 7 to take on Southwestern Assemblies of God University prior to a bye. After that the Pioneers play road games against Texas Wesleyan and Arkansas Baptist in Little Rock before coming home to entertain Texas College and Langston to end the regular-season Nov. 11.
