Case Drum and
Daeandre Harris competed at the NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships, while
Lorenzo Luces was shut down due to an injury.
Harris, a freshman, turned in a time of 54.69 seconds in the 400 hurdles and finished 16
th in the preliminaries while Drum, a sophomore, ran a time of 49.08 seconds in the 400 and was 15
th. More than two dozen competitors were entered in each race.
"Case and Daeandre ran decent races and were very competitive," WBU interim coach Tre Hinds said. "Both came in with an outside chance of making it into the finals, but the conditions were not the best for a good performance."
Luces, a freshman, qualified for nationals in the triple jump and was seeded 13
th going into the meet. But Hinds decided it best he not compete due to a hip injury.
"He wanted to compete but with the injury and how much worse it got, I didn't think he would have made the finals, so it would have been worth nothing if he made the injury worse," Hinds said.
