Oklahoma City, OK – The Sooner Athletic Conference Cross Country Championships were held Saturday morning and the Wayland Baptist men's team finished 2
nd and the women's team finished in 4
th place.
The men's team finished in the runner-up spot with 54 points, which was a tremendous improvement over last years 7
th place finish with 175 points, in the 8K race.
The Pioneers had 4 All-Conference finishers, which is achieved by finishing in the top 15 overall.
Evans Pololet led the way for the Pioneers by placing 3
rd (25:04.13). Pololet qualified for the NAIA National Championship Meet with his effort. Other top finishers for Wayland were
David Hernandez 10
th place (25:36.57),
Jace Sanchez finished 11
th (25:42.75) and
Matthew Gordon was 13
th (26:10.19).
The women's cross country team finished in 4
th place, an improvement over the 5
th place finish last year.
Inmaculada Delgado earned All-Conference honors with her 4
th place finish (23:15.2) in the women's 6K race. Inmaculada also qualified for the NAIA National Championship Meet with her outstanding finish.
