Pioneer Women's Golf Team Battles at Innisbrook Invitational

Palm Harbor – The Wayland Baptist Women's Golf team traveled to Palm Harbor, Florida to compete in the Innisbrook Invitational at the Innisbrook Resort hosted by 9th ranked Dalton State College.

Freshman Ellen Lonergan was the leader for the Pioneers after shooting rounds of 80-81-81-242. This was Lonergan's second collegiate tournament and her best showing so far. The Westport, Ireland native showed great progress between outings, and she will look to continue that upward trajectory into the next tournament.

Senior Juanita Villafane was just behind Lonergan – shooting rounds of 84-81-79-244. Villafane had a terrific third round to start building some confidence as the season progresses.

Freshman Marissa Armendariz finished two shots back of Villafane after scoring rounds of 80-82-84-246. The Dallas, Texas native, Armendariz competed in her second collegiate event as well.

The Wayland Baptist Pioneer Women's Golf team will begin preparation for the Wayland Baptist Invitational on October 14th and 15th in Plainview, Texas at the Plainview Country Club.
