Posey Stepping Away from Coaching to Pursue New Role at Wayland Baptist

Wayland Baptist Women's Soccer Coach Shiloh Posey has announced that he will be stepping away from coaching after accepting the Designated School Official, International Education Specialist position at Wayland Baptist University.
 
"I have had the distinct privilege to be the Head Coach of this program for the past 18 years. This is a special place that is near and dear to my heart," said Coach Posey.
 
Coach Posey continued, "This new opportunity will allow me to spend more time with my family, while also allowing me to continue working in my role with the athletic department."
 
Wayland Baptist Director of Athletics Jim Giacomazzi said, "We can't thank Shiloh enough for everything he has done for our women's soccer program. He is a great man who has shown excellent character and a love for Christ."
 
Coach Giacomazzi continued, "We are thankful that Shiloh has chosen to remain with Wayland Baptist in a different capacity. Shiloh is everything Wayland Baptist stands for."
 
In this new role, Posey will provide specialized support to international students. He will advise students on how to maintain their nonimmigrant status, help international students access services and resources, and communicate with the Student Exchange and Visitor's Program of the Department of Homeland Security.
 
"With my previous experience recruiting international players, this role will allow me to take that one step further to ensure all of our international students are taken care of," said Posey.
 
 Shiloh Posey has served as Wayland's head women's soccer coach since 2007, after the program was reinstated following a three-year absence. He finished his tenure as head coach with 101 career wins. He has led the Pioneers to 12 Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament berths, including the program's first-ever in 2008 followed by 11 straight from 2012-22.

Posey's 2013 squad set a school record for wins with 13 and captured the program's first post-season match victory, advancing to the SAC Tournament semifinals.

Posey has coached multiple NAIA Scholar-Athletes, and his players also have been recognized with 13 All-Sooner Athletic Conference selections and two SAC Newcomer of the Year. and two SAC Goalkeeper of the Year honors, as well as a SAC Champions of Character winner. In 2022, goalkeeper Kanade Morita became the program's first-ever NAIA All-American.

Originally from Brownfield, Texas, Posey came to Wayland as a student and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1995. He went on to receive his master's degree in biology from West Texas A&M in 2000 then another master's degree in 2004, this time in educational administration.

Posey served as a volunteer assistant for the women's soccer team in 2003 while completing his final master's degree. He became the head women's soccer coach at Stephenville High School from 2004-07, where his teams made the playoffs each year of his tenure. In 2004-05, his team won the bi-district championship for the first time in school history.

In addition to leading the women's squad since 2007, Posey also coached the WBU men's soccer team in 2009 and 2010 in the team's first two seasons. He has earned his NSCAA Advanced National Coaching License and his USSF "D" License.

Posey is married to Julie Bell, a native of Lafayette, Ind. Their daughter's name is Caroline, and they had a son in November of 2023. His name is Korban.
 
WBU Athletics has already begun the process of hiring their next Women's Soccer Head Coach and have interviewed many qualified candidates. A decision is expected to be made imminently.
