PLAINVIEW, TX – Junior
Sacha Brendle captures the individual championship at the 2025 Chicken Express Classic, while the Pioneers earned a tie for 1
st as a team after starting the final round 7 strokes back. Three Pioneers finished in the Top 10 of the leaderboards.
As a team, the Pioneers tied for 1
st after finishing with team scores of 287-268-271-826. Wayland Baptist ended the tournament with the lowest team scores on Par 5s, finishing with an outstanding score of -23 under Par and averaging 4.49 shots per Par 5. The Pioneers scored six Eagles (1
st in the field), 66 Birdies (1
st in the field), and 145 Pars.
Brendle was outstanding all tournament long, finishing with scores of 67-65-65-197. The Benfeld, France native was easily the top scorer in the tournament on Par 4s, finishing with a score of -14 under Par and an average of 3.58 shots per Par 4. Across three rounds of play, Brendle scored one Eagle, 19 Birdies (T-1
st in the field), and 29 Pars.
Sophomore
Etienne Bocquillon had the best outing in his young collegiate career, finishing in 2
nd place with scores of 70-64-66-200. Bocquillon's outstanding performance was in large part to his play on Par 4s. He finished with a score of -8 under Par (2
nd in the field) and an average of 3.75 shots per Par 4. Bocquillon ended the tournament with 19 Birdies (T-1
st in the field) and 29 Pars.
Sophomore
Nino Mahy continued the trend of Pioneers finishing in the Top 5 by earning 3
rd place with scores of 73-66-64-203. Mahy finished with the best score on Par 5s. He scored -10 under Par and averaged 3.89 shots per Par 5. Mahy scored an astounding 3 Eagles (1
st in the field), 16 Birdies (3
rd in the field), and 24 Pars.
Alexandre Genet ended the tournament tied for 11
th place with final scores of 72-69-69-210. Genet was very efficient on Par 4s, ending with a final score of -4 under Par (T-7
th in the field) and an average of 3.88 shots per Par 4. Over three rounds of action, Genet scored an Eagle, 12 Birdies, and 32 Pars.
Junior
Leonard Lebrun finished tied for 15
th place after scoring 68-69-76-213. Lebrun was a top 10 finisher on Par 3s, ending with a score of +2 over Par and an average of 3.17 shots per Par 3. He ended his three rounds of golf with an Eagle, 10 Birdies, and 34 Pars (T-6
th in the field).
Bodee Bratcher also tied for 15
th with Lebrun after ending the tournament with scores of 72-69-72-213. Bratcher finished the tournament with an Eagle, 12 Birdies (T-8
th in the field), and 28 Pars.
Sophomore Aidan Conroy came in 19
th place after scoring 74-71-75-220 over his three rounds of action. Conroy finished tied for 4
th in Par 5 scoring, earning a final score of -6 under Par and averaging 4.33 shots per Par 5. Conroy scored an Eagle, seven Birdies, and 32 Pars.

The Wayland Baptist Men's Golf team will begin preparations for the 2025 NCCAA Men's Golf Championships, which are set to take place from October 22-24 in Palm Harbor, Florida at the Hammock Beach Resort Conservatory Course. The Pioneers will look to win their third straight NCCAA Men's Golf Championship after claiming the title in 2023 and 2024.
