Brendle Wins Top of Texas Invitational, Pioneers Bring Home the Team Title

AMARILLO, TX. --- The Wayland Baptist men's golf team took first place at the Top of Texas Invitational. Sacha Brendle earned first place overall, while Nino Mahy and Etienne Bocquillon placed inside the Top 5 to help lead the Pioneers to victory.

The Pioneers claimed the win over eight other teams, finishing with scores of 296-297-279-872, winning by eight strokes over second place West Texas A&M (B). The Pioneers finished with the lowest team scores on both Par 3s and Par 5s, averaging 3.45 shots per Par 3 and 4.64 shots per Par 5. As a team, the Pioneers scored one Eagle, 45 Birdies, and 147 Pars across three rounds of action.

Brendle, a native or Benfeld, France, earned his second career first place finish after shooting 71-72-67-210, securing All-Tournament Team honors. Brendle was the best player in the field on Par 4s and Par 5s, averaging 3.94 shots per Par 4 (-2 under Par) and 4.33 shots per Par 5 (-6 under Par). Brendle led the field in Birdies with 13 while also scoring 32 Pars over three rounds of play.

Sophomore Nino Mahy brought home 3rd place and All-Tournament Team recognition, scoring 74-71-73-218 over three rounds of play. Mahy finished top 3 in scoring on Par 3s and Par 4s, averaging 3.25 shots per Par 3 and 4.12 shots per Par 4. Over three rounds of play, Mahy scored nine Birdies and 32 Pars.

Sophomore Etienne Bocquillon finished right behind Mahy in 4th place which secured All-Tournament Team honors for him too. Across three rounds of play, Bocquillon scored 75-77-68-220, using the final round to climb the leaderboard and into the Top 5. Bocquillon led the field in Par 3 scoring, averaging 3.08 shots per Par 3. He finished the tournament with 10 Birdies and 28 Pars.

Junior Leonard Lebrun finished tied for 10th after scoring 76-78-71-225. Lebrun was Top 5 in scoring on Par 4s, averaging 4.15 strokes per Par 4. Lebrun scored the lone Eagle for the Pioneers while also scoring six Birdies and 32 Pars.

Alexandre Genet earned a tie for 28th place after finishing the three round event with rounds of 82-77-79-238. Genet finished with seven Birdies and 23 Pars across three rounds of play.

Aiden Conroy played the event as an independent and finished tied for 35th after scoring 87-83-76-246, showing strong improvement as the tournament progressed. Conroy finished tied for 2nd in total Pars with 34.

The Pioneers will return to action on March 23-24, 2026, when they travel to Bullhead City, Arizona to host The Battle at Laughlin Ranch GC.
