Brendle Earns T-2nd at The Battle, Pioneers Take 8th Overall

BULLHEAD CITY, Ariz. --- The 16th ranked Wayland Baptist men's golf team finished in 8th place at the 2026 The Battle at Laughlin Ranch GC where they competed against some of the top teams in the country. Sacha Brendle continued his strong stretch of play by finishing T-2nd on the individual leaderboard.

As a team, the Pioneers shot 298-305-299-902 on their way to an 8th place finish. The Pioneers scored three Eagles (tied for the most in the field), 34 Birdies, and 143 Pars across three rounds of golf.

A junior from Benfeld, France, Brendle was the Pioneers' top finisher for the second straight week. Brendle finished T-2nd (74-72-68-214) and once again used a terrific final round to climb the leaderboard, just one week removed from winning the Top of Texas Invitational after an incredible final round.

Across three rounds of play, Brendle scored 14 Birdies (most in the field) and 30 Pars. He was particularly great on Par 4s and Par 5s, finishing tied for 2nd in lowest scoring on those holes. Brendle averaged 3.90 shots per Par 4 (-3 under Par) and 4.75 shots per Par 5 (-3 under Par).

Nino Mahy earned a tie for 41st after shooting 76-77-75-228 across three rounds of play. Mahy finished the tournament with five Birdies and 36 Pars.

Etienne Bocquillon finished just behind Mahy in a tie for 53rd with scores of 77-74-79-230. Across three rounds, Bocquillon scored one Eagle, four Birdies, and 33 Pars.

Leonard Lebrun also finished tied for 53rd with Bocquillon after scoring 71-82-77-230 across three rounds of action. Lebrun scored two Eagles (tied for 1st in the field), seven Birdies, and 25 Pars.

Alexandre Genet came in 97th with rounds of 88-89-89-266. Genet scored four Birdies and 19 Pars.

The Pioneers will now travel to Rocky Face, Georgia to compete in the 2026 Roadrunner Invitational hosted by 12th ranked Dalton State on March 30-31. This is their final tournament before the SAC Championships.
