The highlight of the WBU 2014-15 athletics year was the national championship claimed by the women’s outdoor track and field team in May in Gulf Shores, Ala. Claiming victories in five events, the Pioneer women ran away with the title by amassing 91 points, 25 more than runner-up Oklahoma Baptist and the third-most all-time for WBU at a national outdoor meet. It was Wayland's third national outdoor track and field title and first since winning back-to-back crowns in 2008-09. (The WBU women have five women's indoor titles.) Leading the way was an impressive group of sprinters, led by Alexis Browner. The senior from Sacramento, Calif., (she has one indoor season remaining) won the 100 and 200 meters and helped the 4x100 and 4x400 relays to victories. At the national indoor meet, the women finished third with 73 points, just six behind runner-up Indiana Tech and 14 behind defending champ OBU. The Pioneers claimed four individual national crowns, three by Browner (60, 200, 4x400). Bianca Farrington won the 400 and as part of the 4x400.
