Chante van Zyl is tied for ninth place after day one of the OUAZ Sterling Grove Shootout.
Playing at Sterling Grove Golf & Country Club in chilly and windy weather, van Zyl shot 80-83 for a 163 total. That's 10 shots behind the leader, Danielle Talley of host Ottawa (75-78—153).
Morgan Rutledge (85-87—172) is tied for 17
th while
Brooklyn Nix (86-88—174) is 23
rd in the 43-team field. Rounding out Wayland's scores were
Lucie Mahelova (125-125—250) and
Tevia Bell (156-169—325).
WBU posted scores of 376 and 383 for a 759 total, sixth in the six-team field. Embry-Riddle (Ariz.) (312-316—628) is first, 14 shots ahead of Ottawa (318-324—642).
The final 18 holes will be played Tuesday beginning at 9 a.m. CST.
