Darryn has played a big role in the success of the men’s soccer team but is one of the handful of players who goes virtually unrecognized because he is a defender and doesn’t produce a lot of stats. “Much of the success we’ve had is due to Darryn and others on our back line (Gian Scalise, Oraine Tomlinson, Alex Castillo, Ross Brown), along with our middle (James Quinn, Matthew Lowndes). They are one of the main parts of the team but are under-appreciated for what they do,” Coach Cristhian Ospina said. He said Darryn is “a great kid on and off the field and a hard worker. He’s one of our captains.” The Pioneers finished as co-champions in the SAC and earned the No. 1 seed for the conference tournament for the first time in program history. WBU hosts SAGU at 5 p.m. Saturday in the first round of the SAC Tourney.
