Wallace, Westfall recognized by USTFCCCA

Wayland Baptist sprinter Raheema Westfall and assistant coach Frank Wallace have been honored by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. Westfall was named NAIA South Central Women's Track Athlete of the Year while Wallace is NAIA South central Women's Track Assistant Coach of the Year.

Westfall, who hails from St. Louis, is ranked among the nation's top-5 seasonal performers in both the 60 meters (No. 3, 7.42c/7.40A) and 200 (No. 4, 24.05c/23.98A). She placed top-3 in each of the 60-meter finals she made this year, including one victory. Westfall is an eight-time NAIA All-American with one national title and four runner-up titles. This indoor season, she received Sooner Athletic Conference Women's Track Athlete of the Year, giving her six for her career.

Wallace, in his third year as assistant coach at Wayland, led the Pioneers to two No. 4 NAIA event rankings (60 and 200, rating No. 1 regionally in both). Two of his athletes have top-5 times in the 60, while his leading sprinter, Westfall, leads the region in the 60 and 200.

Award winners were determined by a vote of USTFCCCA member coaches. Only those individuals from USTFCCCA member programs are eligible for awards.

Westfall, Johnson and the rest of the WBU track & field teams are headed to the 2022 NAIA Indoor Track & Field Championships next week in Brookings, S.D.
